The Northern Illinois men's basketball team has a 3-point shooting problem.
Balanced scoring and a strong defense has helped the Huskies earn a share of the lead in the Mid-American Conference West Standings with Eastern Michigan, but they have been woeful behind the 3-point line this season – something Northern Illinois coach Mark Montgomery acknowledges.
"We're not a good 3-point shooting team," Montgomery said. "As you see, other teams, they are crowding the paint, they're digging down, they're whatever-you-want-to-say, and they're giving us that shot. Until we have someone to knock it down consistently, it's going to be these kind of games.
