DeKALB – The NIU Convocation Center was silent as Aaric Armstead went to the line to shoot his second free throw.
With less than two seconds left in a tied game, the biggest home crowd of the season erupted after the Northern Illinois junior guard sank the free throw to give the Huskies a dramatic 80-79 win over Akron on Saturday night.
"Just be calm, don't panic – situations like that, people have a tendency to get riled up and be too emotional," said Armstead, who scored 21 points and had eight rebounds and came up with seven critical points in the final 2:20 of the game.
