NIU men's basketball: After 21-win season last year, Huskies enter season with high expectations

DeKALB – In senior guard Aaric Armstead's first two seasons with the Northern Illinois men's basketball team, the Huskies hovered in mediocrity.

However, now the Huskies are coming off their best season in two decades and face some buzz – and expectations – around the program from fans as Northern Illinois kicks off the season at home against Indiana State at 7 p.m. Friday.

"It feels different because I came here when we were below .500, so that's the thing," said Armstead, who averaged 10.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game last season. "Having one of the best seasons NIU's had, there's the sense that you have to do it again.
