DETROIT – Taking over the reins as the new Toledo football coach, Jason Candle said his Rockets don't necessarily have a rivalry with Northern Illinois.
He says the Rockets will have to beat the Huskies one of these years to have it be a rivalry.
"Rivalry to me is when the other team wins once in a while," Candle laughs. "I have a lot of respect for Rod Carey. I have a lot of respect for the Northern Illinois program. There's a culture there that understands winning and a culture that expects to win."
The Huskies have won six straight over the Rockets, who last won a meeting in 2009.
