CHICAGO – Looking for a way to combat low attendance at football games late in the season, Northern Illinois athletic director Sean Frazier knew he could get some heat for taking a game out of Huskie Stadium and moving it to U.S. Cellular Field in what is being dubbed the "Chi-town Showdown."
While the Huskie will need to take a bus to their home game against Toledo on Nov. 9 in the first game ever to be played in the home of the White Sox, that's something that Frazier has plenty of experience with as a player.
During his playing days at the University of Alabama from 1987-91, Frazier saw the Crimson Tide play more than half of their home games away from the campus site in Tuscaloosa – instead, playing 15 of their 26 scheduled home games more than 50 miles away at Legion Field in Birmingham.
