DeKALB – Western Michigan football coach PJ Fleck has never beat Northern Illinois.
Even though the undefeated Broncos come in as a clear-cut favorite, Fleck said the road to the Mid-American Conference West title still runs through the Huskies as the teams face off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Kalamazoo.
"Northern Illinois is a heck of a football team. They're the team to beat in the league," said Fleck, who played for the Huskies from 1999-2003. "They have won it six straight. The old saying, if you want to be a champion, you have to beat a champion.
