DeKALB – With the Huskie Bowl a week away, the Northern Illinois football team is packing its bags and spending one of its final practice days of the spring season at Gately Stadium in the south side of Chicago on Saturday.
The two-hour practice, beginning around 11 a.m., is an opportunity for athletes in the Chicago area to attend a Huskies event and is the latest attempt by Northern Illinois to stabilize a foothold in the Windy City, Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey said.
"We do a camp down there every year, so we thought, 'why not bring practice down there?
