NIU football: Brescacin selected by Calgary in second round of CFL

Former Northern Illinois wide receiver Juwan Brescacin was selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football Draft on Tuesday night.

Brescacin, who is Canadian, was picked in the second round with the No. 15 pick.

The Stampeders finished last season 14-4 and were eliminated by the eventual Gray Cup champion Edmonton Eskimos.

Brescacin had 24 catches for 298 yards and a touchdown last season for the Huskies. As a junior, he hauled in 31 receptions for 445 yards and six touchdowns. He had seven catches for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Huskies' 51-17 win over Bowling Green in the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championship.
