DEKALB – The Northern Illinois men's basketball team looked to be well on their way to a sizable victory against Western Michigan.
That notion disappeared in the final 10 minutes of the second half but the Huskies escaped with a 76-67 victory on Saturday afternoon at the NIU Convocation Center.
In the first game of the doubleheader at the Convocation Center, the NIU women came out on the losing end to a tough conference opponent, losing to Toledo 89-83 in overtime.
In the men's game, Western Michigan (11-18 overall, 5-11 MAC West) couldn’t find an answer for Northern Illinois (19-10 overall, 8-8 MAC West) on either end of the floor for the better half of the game.
