NIU basketball: Former Huskie selected by Celtics in second round of NBA Draft

Just before the second round of the NBA Draft came to a close on Thursday, a former Northern Illinois men's basketball player became the Boston Celtics' final selection of the night.

Former Huskie forward Abdel Nader was taken with the 58th pick of the 60-player draft.

Nader, a native of Egypt, played two seasons for the Huskies before transferring to Iowa State for his final two years. In his freshman season, he averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes and 31 games in 2011-12, before averaging 13.1 points and 5.6 points in 25.4 minutes and 19 games as a sophomore.
