The game was essentially over for the Northern Illinois baseball team against Valparaiso on Tuesday.
Then it wasn't.
The Huskies stormed back with seven runs in the ninth inning to stun the Crusaders 11-10 in a non-conference game at Ralph McKenzie Field.
The Huskies (19-25 overall) scored seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the ninth, capped by a walk-off RBI single by catcher Johnny Zubek. It's the seventh straight win for the Huskies, which is the longest streak since 1977 – when they won 10 straight.
“If you’re going to break a record that has stood for 30 some odd years, you might as well break it with one of the greatest comebacks in school history," Northern Illinois coach Mike Kunigonis said.
