DeKALB – Mother Nature wasn't feeling cooperative on Friday afternoon.
Playing in its first home game of the season, the Northern Illinois baseball team had its series opener against Miami postponed due to rain in the top of the fifth inning at Ralph McKenzie Field.
"It was an iffy day all day, we tried to get it in – we rolled the dice and it didn't work out weather-wise, but that's baseball," Northern Illinois coach Mike Kunigonis said.
When the game is picked back up at 4 p.m. Saturday, the RedHawks are leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth – with a runner on third base and one out.
