DeKALB – Northern Illinois baseball coach Mike Kunigonis didn't want to put the burden of being the Friday starter on freshman William Anderson.
By the fourth series of the season, Anderson was taking the mound on Fridays.
"Truthfully, I didn't want to have to put him in that situation, just for the simple fact – I don't think it's fair to put a freshman in that role," Kunigonis said of being the Friday starter, which is usually the first game of the series. "It's a lot to ask of an 18-year-old kid. Four weeks in, it was clear he could handle it and we made the move.
