DeKALB – Northern Illinois men’s basketball coach Mark Montgomery didn’t dare miss a Milwaukee United game during the summer of 2014.
His persistence paid off, signing vital players off that AAU team who have had a significant impact on the Huskies as freshmen this season – forward Jaylen Key, wing Levi Bradley and guard Marshawn Wilson.
“I recruited them all summer. I didn’t miss a game,” Montgomery said. “I went to literally every single one of their AAU games, no matter what city or state they were in. I changed my flight in Vegas because of their tournament.
