The Huskies weren’t able to get any momentum going from the beginning, falling behind early and making any comeback attempts pretty tough. Both of their wins on the day came in singles matches as they lost all three of their doubles matchups.
The match began with back-to-back 6-2 doubles match losses for NIU. The losses came from the teams of sophomore Kevin Daun/sophomore Georg Lundkvist and sophomore Louis-Philippe Hamel/sophomore Tom Hjertonsson. The two defeats set the tempo for the rest of the game.
Hjertonsson was able to pick up a victory over Wisconsin sophomore Lamar Remy in three sets (6-2, 7-6, and 7-4) and Lundkvist defeated sophomore Jakhongir Jalalov in straight sets (6-1, 6-4).
