A former NIU Huskie will be relocating to the lone-star state. Friday with a second-round pick, 55th overall, the Houston Texans selected offensive tackle Max Scharping.
Scharping said to NIU Athletics he was excited to be selected and is ready to get his NFL career underway.
"It was an amazing feeling getting that phone call," Scharping said. "I can't wait to be a Texan. It's an unbelievable feeling, and I can't wait to get down to Houston."
With the pick Scharping became the 38th NIU player to be selected in the history of the NFL draft and the first since wide receiver Kenny Golladay in 2017.
