DeKALB – Hanging on the back wall of the NIU Convocation Center media room, there’s an old picture of a packed crowd at a Northern Illinois men’s basketball game.
It’s now nearly a decade from the day of that photo – an overtime home win over Kansas State on Dec. 20, 2005. Much has changed since that season, which was the last time the Huskies finished with a winning record – winning the Mid-American Conference West at 12-6 and going 17-11 overall.
After this season’s Huskies dismantled Chicago State this month for their seventh consecutive win to start the season, sophomore post Marin Maric talked about their hot start before pointing toward the back of the room.
