DeKALB — The Mid-American Conference announced the 2017 football schedule Wednesday.
NIU has six out of its 12 games at home, with two falling on Saturday’s, including one against a “Power 5” team, which is a team from either the Big 12 Conference, Big Ten Conference, Pacific-12 Conference, Southeastern Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference, for the first time since the Huskies defeated the University of Kansas, 30-23, Sept. 22, 2012, at Huskie Stadium.
The “Power 5” game will be the opening game of the season Sept. 1 against the Boston College Eagles. The last time these teams met, the Eagles defeated the Huskies, 17-14, Sept.
