Former NIU punter suing NCAA for "unlawful" transfer rules

Former Northern Illinois University punter Peter Deppe is suing the NCAA, claiming its transfer rules violate federal antitrust laws.

The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District Court of Indiana, seeks class action status and to represent any former NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision football player who sought to transfer but was made ineligible to compete for any period of time under the NCAA's transfer rules.

It's the second lawsuit involving an NIU player in the past two months, as in January former running back Akeem Daniels sued daily fantasy sites FanDuel and DraftKings for damages for using his name to generate millions of dollars in revenue.
