MAPLE PARK – In a back-and-forth game that came down to the final seconds of regulation, Kaneland made a few more plays in critical moments to beat Sycamore 44-40 and win the Class 3A Kaneland Regional on Friday night.
Sycamore (15-12) and Kaneland (20-8) were neck-and-neck from start to finish in the regional final matchup between the two Northern Illinois Big 12 teams and Sycamore coach Andrew Stacy credited Kaneland on their clutch play down the stretch.
“I’m extremely proud of our guys and they’ve come a long way this year,” Stacy said. “I thought we did a great job executing the game plan but we just came up a little bit short tonight.
