After last year's run to the Heart of Dallas Bowl, one of the biggest questions about UNT is whether the Mean Green will be better or worse in 2017.

Why UNT could be better
UNT appeared to be in a nearly unworkable position entering last season. The Mean Green had a new coach in Seth Littrell, who was installing a spread offense with players ill-suited for the system. UNT was inexperienced at quarterback and was the consensus pick to finish last in Conference USA's West Division.
