EL PASO -- North Texas opened the Seth Littrell era with lofty goals for a team that won just one game a year ago, including playing in a bowl for the second time in the last dozen years.
UTEP running back Aaron Jones made sure the Mean Green will have a long, bitter wait to see if they get there.
Jones ran over, around and through UNT's defense on his way to a whopping 301 yards and four touchdowns while carrying UTEP to a 52-24 beating of the Mean Green on Saturday at the Sun Bowl.
UNT (5-7, 3-5 Conference USA) had a chance to finish with a winning record and become bowl-eligible for the second time in 12 years with a win over the Miners (4-8, 2-6) but blew the opportunity.
