UNT and UTSA came into their game on Saturday ranked first and second, respectively, in scoring defense among Conference USA teams. The Mean Green ranked first with an average of 27.1 points allowed per game, while the Roadrunners ranked second at 29.3 points a game. UTSA got the better of UNT in the first half by posting the shutout. The Mean Green managed just 21 rushing yards on 13 carries and turned the ball over twice.
UNT linebacker Fred Scott played for the first time since the Mean Green's loss to Middle Tennessee on Oct. 1. He missed UNT's last two games with an undisclosed injury.
