What seemed like a tragic ending just a few months ago is now turning into a story of persistence. Zach Orr, a former standout at DeSoto and North Texas who won All-Pro honors with the Baltimore Ravens last year in the NFL, is coming out of retirement in hopes for another chance at NFL glory.
Orr, now 25 years-old, was forced to walk away from the game after a congenital neck defect was discovered at the top of his spine. It came after he suffered a neck injury late in the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the defect was something that Orr was born with and played with his entire life leading up to that injury against the Steelers.
