DENTON -- Mason Fine endured a long and painful offseason following his freshman year at North Texas that started a whole lot sooner than anyone expected.
The Mean Green's quarterback missed the final three games of the year -- including the Heart of Dallas Bowl -- with a shoulder injury. And that was just the beginning. Fine still had to go through rehab, get back to form in spring practice and win his job back in fall camp.
"It feels good and shows that hard work pays off," Fine said of earning the starting nod for UNT's season-opener today against Lamar at Apogee Stadium.
