LUBBOCK -- Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells added a former Red Raider standout to his coaching staff Thursday, announcing the hiring of Joel Filani as the new wide receivers coach.
Filani, a two-time All-Big 12 first-team selection at wide receiver, caught for 2,667 yards and 23 touchdowns during his Red Raider career (2003-06). Filani's best performance came his senior season, when he recorded 91 receptions for 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns -- ranking in the single-season top 10 for a Tech receiver in each category.
