NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The No. 17 North Carolina Tar Heels came up short Tuesday evening against the No. 14-ranked Cornell Big Red, in the third-place matchup in the blue pool at the Collegiate Wrestling Duals.
Against the Big Red, the Tar Heels were victorious at 141, 157 and 184-pounds, as Carolina ended the two-day event with a fourth-place team finish in their respective pool.
At 141-pounds, Lachlan McNeil defeated No. 21 Vince Cornella by decision, 4-0, ending the event with multiple victories. Freshman Jayden Scott earned the 3-1 sudden victory, earning the takedown with just mere seconds left in the period.
