CARY, N.C. - North Carolina competed Friday afternoon in the first day of the 2015 Bonk Invite at Cary Tennis Center.
Kate Vialle and Marika Akkerman each picked up singles wins in the black bracket. Vialle won 6-4, 6-3 over Rebecca Smaller of Duke, while Akkerman won in come-back-fashion, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (6) over Olaya Garrido-Rivas of TCU.
Cassandra Vazquez on 6-3, 6-3 over Kendal Woodard of Georgia Tech in the blue bracket.
Jessie Aney fell in three sets to Skylar Morton of Virginia in the white bracket.
Ashley Dai advanced in the grey bracket after her opponent withdrew, while Maggie Kane did the same in the royal bracket.
