CHAPEL HILL—Five University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players led the way with Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as the Tar Heels topped the preseason ACC poll, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Carolina earned 63 points in voting by the league's coaches, leading second-place Notre Dame (54) and third-place Syracuse (51). The Tar Heels, Fighting Irish and Orange also are ranked No. 1-2-3 in the preseason national polls entering this weekend's season-opening action.
Following the top three in the ACC poll were Virginia, Boston College, Duke, Virginia Tech and Louisville.
A quintet of Tar Heels earned Preseason All-ACC accolades at every position on the field: attackers Katie Hoeg and Jamie Ortega, midfielder Kerrigan Miller, defender Emma Trenchard and goalie Taylor Moreno.
