North Carolina earned a spot in the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament quarterfinals for the fourth year in a row Thursday, beating No. 8 California 4-1 at Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. The Tar Heels will face top-seeded Wake Forest Saturday in the Elite 8. Match time in Athens is 4 p.m.
With the third-round win, UNC improved to 27-4 on the season, just a victory shy of last season's school-record wins total. “We played well all the way up and down the line, so I am really happy about the performance today,” Tar Heel coach Sam Paul said.
