DURHAM, N.C. –North Carolina's men and women both sit in second place following Day 1 of competition at the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, underway at Duke's Morris Williams Stadium. The Tar Heels have a total of five medals, two of them gold, thus far in the event.

Madison Wiltrout already owned the UNC record in the women's javelin but she bettered it on Friday with a throw of 196-11, the 10th-furthest throw in NCAA history. She also set meet, facility and conference records.
