CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina will open NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament play Saturday in Columbus, Ohio, facing either Purdue or St. John's.
The Tar Heels are seeded sixth in the Seattle 3 Region.
It's the 30th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and third in a row under fourth-year head coach Courtney Banghart.
The Tar Heels are coming off a Sweet 16 appearance, the 18th in school history and first since 2015. They're 49-28 all-time in NCAA play, with a national championship in 1994 and Final Fours in 1994, 2006 and 2007.
