WBB Collecting Items Sunday For Bahamas Disaster Relief

CHAPEL HILL - The North Carolina women’s basketball team is collecting items for Bahamas Disaster Relief this Sunday during the game with Elon at Carmichael Arena beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Bahamas took a severe hit by Hurricane Matthew back in October. The Tar Heels have a strong connection with the area affected. Sophomore Destinee Walker spent a portion of her childhood in the Bahamas, and has family and friends that continue to live there now.

Carolina recently played in Bimini last weekend over Thanksgiving and was overwhelmed by the support of the locals that traveled from a variety of islands that make up the Bahamas, including Walker’s native Freeport that took a direct hit by the hurricane.
