CHAPEL HILL - Despite 30 points and 13 rebounds from freshman Stephanie Watts, North Carolina lost 80-66 to NC State on Sunday afternoon inside Carmichael Arena.
Watts set a new career high with 30 points and registered her sixth double-double in the process to lead North Carolina (14-15, 4-10 Atlantic Coast Conference). She also had five steals, three blocks and two assists. Destinee Walker and Jamie Cherry added 13 points apiece.
NC State (18-9, 9-5) was led by Miah Spencer’s 25 points and 10 assists. Backcourt mate Dominique Wilson had 19 points and Jennifer Mathurin notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.
