CHAPEL HILL - Freshmen guards Destinee Walker and Stephanie Watts combined for 59 points in leading North Carolina to a 94-58 victory over Florida A&M on Tuesday night.
Walker led North Carolina (1-2) with 32 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. The Orlando, Fla., native was 10-of-17 from the field and made all 10 free throws she attempted.
Meanwhile, Watts finished with 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting with six rebounds and five assists.
Jamie Cherry and Erika Johnson each had nine points, and N’Dea Bryant had eight points.
Carolina controlled the opening tip and never looked back in picking up its first win of the season.
