CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA.—No. 5 Virginia (8-1, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) went on a 10-0 run in the second half limited No. 7 North Carolina (6-3, 1-1 ACC) to 37 percent shooting, beating the Tar Heels, 56-47, on Sunday afternoon at John Paul Jones Arena.
UNC freshman forward Armando Bacot started the game and tallied 11 despite spraining his ankle four days earlier against Ohio State. Cole Anthony scored 12.
Carolina held UVA to 33 percent shooting in the game.
Both teams struggled offensively, combining to shoot 15 for 48 from the field before the break with UVA leading, 24-18.
