CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The third-ranked North Carolina field hockey team got six goals from true freshmen, including a hat trick from Eva van’t Hoog, and gained significant experience for its bench players Friday in earning its seventh consecutive win, 8-1 over visiting Longwood at Francis E. Henry Stadium.
The Tar Heels improved to 11-1 overall and reached the eight-goals mark for the third game in a row. The Lancers fell to 4-7 on the season.
Van’t Hoog scored the gamewinner in the fifth minute of play on a pass from classmate Malin Evert.
