BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil - The U.S. Women's National Team took control of Group G with a 1-0 defeat of France thanks to Carli Lloyd's 63rd minute game-winning goal and another strong defensive performance at Mineirão Stadium in its second match of the 2016 Olympic Games.
UNC alumnae were prominent in the starting lineup in Saturday's win as U.S. coach Jill Ellis tapped all five Tar Heels on the team for the starting 11. Just as they had against New Zealand on Wednesday, Tobin Heath and Allie Long started in the midfield and Meghan Klingenberg started on the defense for the USA.
