The 2024 UNC women’s soccer season hasn’t gone how any of us expected, but it doesn’t have anything to do with the team’s record. Hall of Fame head coach Anson Dorrance unexpectedly announced his retirement right before the beginning of the season, which raised a lot of questions about the future of this team. Now that we’ve had some time to witness interim head coach Damon Nehas work, we can safely say that things are in pretty good shape, though there is still some room for improvement.
The Heels entered the season as the eighth-ranked team in the country and climbed their way up the rankings after starting the season 6-0.
