The North Carolina women’s soccer program finds itself back in the College Cup this season, just two wins away from a 22nd national championship, and first since 2012.
It’s North Carolina’s 28th appearance in the College Cup, and second in the last three seasons. The Tar Heels’ current five-year stretch without winning a national championship is the longest in the history of the sport. Prior to the 2012 season, the Tar Heels had never gone longer than two seasons between national titles.
UNC will face off with Georgetown in Friday’s first semifinal at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
