Aly Messenger's goal with 3:45 remaining in sudden victory overtime gave the Tar Heels a 15-14 win over Syracuse in the ACC Championship. It was UNC's second ACC title schools history and first since 2002.
UNC trailed 13-11 with four minutes left in regulation but rallied to take a 14-13 lead with 36 seconds left on Molly Hendrick's goal. UNC then had two players called for yellow cards in the final 32 seconds, the last one with six seconds left to give Syracuse a two man advantage. The Orange scored as time expired to send the game to overtime.
