After their best season in Courtney Banghart’s tenure in Chapel Hill, which culminated in the Heels hosting the first two rounds before losing in the Sweet 16, UNC was going to have to replace a ton of production in order to continue their upward trajectory. Three starters — Fifth-year seniors Alyssa Ustby and Lexi Donarski as well as senior Maria Gakdeng — have all played their last games in Tar Heel Blue, and with them go nearly half of UNC’s points, rebounds, and “stocks” (that’s steals + blocks) as well as about a third of their assists. Grace Townsend, who played valuable point guard minutes off the bench, has also exhausted her eligibility.
