UNC Women’s Basketball to host rounds one and two as the three seed in the Birmingham Region

While the UNC men’s team celebrated the news that they were dancing on to Dayton Tuesday night, the UNC women stayed glued to ESPN as the network announced the field of 68 for the NCAA Women’s Tournament.

The attention was because for the first time under Courtney Banghart and the first time since 2015, the Tar Heels had a real shot to actually host the first and second rounds of the tournament. All of the major predictors said that the Tar Heels had done enough to earn a hosting spot, even with two losses at the end of the regular season while missing two key players.
