Last year, for the second straight season, UNC women’s basketball was slightly underseeded going into the NCAA Tournament, ran into the buzzsaw that was South Carolina, and ended their postseason disappointingly early. Last year’s team didn’t really show a lot of progress from the year prior, partially due to dealing with a rash of injuries that kept the starting lineup in flux and had several players playing out of position or outside their most desirable roles. This season represents a bit of a transition for UNC. Gone is point guard Deja Kelly, who has been the face of the program for the past four seasons.
