N.C. State was predicted to finish eighth in the ACC preseason poll. Freshman Cam Hayes received one vote for ACC Preseason Freshman of the Year. Two of its top-three scorers from last season graduated. Through five games, it has wins over Charleston Southern, North Florida, UMass Lowell, and Campbell. Its lone loss was 80-69 to St. Louis.
