There was a point in ACC history where today’s game between UNC and Miami would’ve been a pretty important matchup. For all intents and purposes, it is in fact important for both teams in some capacity, but the thing is that both teams ended up facing each other in pretty good shape to at least contend for the ACC title. We know the Tar Heels’ story for the season, so I won’t beat that dead horse, but Miami’s situation has been…well…bad. Really, really, really bad. Winning only six games so far this season bad.
An obvious part of Miami’s woes is the fact that Jim Larranaga left the program, which led got the ACC as a conference that much closer to completely pressing the reset button as far as tenured head coaches go (Leonard Hamilton will complete that process after this season).
