Carolina lost in their second game in the Maui Invitational to Auburn, 85-72. As tradition dictates, the Heels once again played poorly in the first half and fell behind by double digits. This time there would be no big comeback; other than cutting the lead to three with about five minutes to go in the first half the Tigers largely kept UNC at arm’s length and won convincingly.
In a contest that saw Auburn largely silence R.J. Davis and Elliot Cadeau, Seth Trimble continued to put up solid numbers for the Tar Heels. Trimble finished with 17 points on 7-13 shooting, including a solid 3-6 from three-point range.
