CHAPEL HILL
North Carolina cornerbacks M.J. Stewart and Mike Hughes have been suspended indefinitely and will miss the team's game on Saturday against Wake Forest, the school announced on Thursday.
Stewart, a sophomore, and Hughes, a freshman, have been suspended after what coach Larry Fedora described as “an altercation” in Chapel Hill on Oct. 4. They both turned themselves into Chapel Hill Police on assault charges on Thursday, posted bond and were released.
“We have been aware of this situation since the night of the altercation and have been working closely with the university and Chapel Hill Police to gather relevant information,” Fedora said in a statement.
