CHAPEL HILL, NC—The No. 4-ranked North Carolina women’s tennis team kicked off the dual match season with wins over Elon and Appalachian State Saturday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
In the first match against Elon, 16th-ranked duo Jessie Aney and Kate Vialle took an early 2-0 lead and never looked back in their 6-0 victory over Kirsten Ward/Natalia Janowicz.
Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer downed Olivia Lucas and Suzanne Zenoni 6-2 to secure the doubles point.
In the singles matches, No. 6 Hayley Carter swept Olivia Lucas 6-0, 6-0 to put the Tar Heels up 2-0.
