Carolina’s quarterfinal game of the ACC Tournament was nothing like the smooth sailing against Notre Dame on Wednesday. The Tar Heels struggled mightily in the second half, but made just enough plays late to enact revenge on Wake Forest with a 68-59 win.
The Tar Heels fell behind early before clawing back in the first half with a 33-31 halftime lead. Neither team shot the ball well, but Carolina turned it over nine times that led to 10 points for the Demon Deacons. The second half was, to be very honest, a mess. The Tar Heels went nearly ten minutes without a field goal as they traded the lead back and forth with Wake Forest.
